Pain, blood and cries were all that was witnessed on Monday morning on the busy streets of Nairobi. Another manifestation of police brutality was revealed leaving no room for doubt on the inhumane nature of the Kenyan police, at least if how they handled the protest against IEBC by CORD is anything to go by.
Those who experienced the unfortunate event bear scars and marks that could take ages to heal both emotionally and physically. Punching, kicking, shooting, tearing of flesh was eviden from the picture that emerged.
How can we trust the police from here? How will they protect us and beat us at the same time, teargas our leaders and our children? Surely there are better ways to bring peace and restore calm. Photos and videos on social media boldly speak for themselves. Perhaps we are returning to the dictatorship ages, where people are recklessly killed for no justifiable reason.
Calls for IEBC commissioners to resign have been called for, to save Kenyans from further police brutality or perhaps it is the politicians who need to stop this madness, putting Kenyan lives at risk as they watch from afar. Alternatively, Kenyans need to wake up and not allow themselves to be cheated by politicians.
Either way, all this could have just been avoided. Here are your comments.
